IWM
In 2001, the “Knowledge Media Institute” (Institut für Wissensmedien – IWM) has been founded by the University Senate replacing its predecessor “Institute for Media Didactics”. The IWM is a central University institute. It is in charge of coordinating and promoting the Uni Ko-Ld efforts in E-Learning. IWM is carrying out e-learning research, piloting e-learning solutions and providing e-learning related services for the Uni Ko-Ld departments of the university. Through its responsibility for the provision of eLearning services, IWM Koblenz is continuously confronted with issues of privacy and data security
During the past years IWM has been participating in a number of European projects in the field of Technology Enhanced Learning. Among them are the IST projects Trial-Solution, Mobilearn and Telcert. The Knowledge Media Institute Koblenz has among its staff members pedagogs as well as computer scientists collaborating in their daily work.
